There are a bunch of great CiviCRM events in the US coming up in early March to be aware of. If you feel like taking a break from your daily routine and taking a short trip, what better way to get away and improve your CiviCRM skills than by attending a training in Chicago or Washington D.C.? Note also that the CiviCRM community convention, CiviCON is happening in Chicago as well as DrupalCon, immediately on the heels of the CiviCRM trainings.
Chicago: CiviCRM User and Administrator Training
March 5th & 6th, 2011
This will will be a two day hands on training for site administrators and technical users focused on the following topics:
- Configuration
- Administration
- Every day use of CiviCRM
While getting up to speed with CiviCRM can involve a lot of things, I know you'll come away from the training sessions with an increased knowledge of how to use CiviCRM to further your organization's mission.
Fees discounts — Qualified organizations with annual budgets less than $100,00 can apply for a limited number of scholarships. The regular two day fee is $600 per attendee.
Integrators & Developers:
Chicago: Configuring, Customizing and Extending CiviCRM
March 5th & 6th, 2011
This runs concurrently with the above training sessions and is targeted at integrators and developers, as well as interested administrators. You should have some knowledge of PHP and MySQL to be able to participate in the training exercises.
Among the topics that will be covered are integration with Joomla and Drupal, as well as extending CiviCRM, and other advanced features, such as message templating, internationalization, and the inner workings of CiviCRM code layout and architecture.
CiviCON
March 7, 2011
Great speakers and breakout sessions are a part of this event, known as THE event for the CiviCRM community. It's a pretty short even only lasting 6 hours, organizers promise various tracks based on different community roles, i.e., users, developers, administrators. Within those tracks you'll be able to explore the future of CiviCRM, look at case studies and best practices for current installations, and get more involved in the community.
No actual agenda has been posted to the event description at the site yet, but I'm sure it will be a fun day of decompressing after the training sessions held on the two days previous.
